Franck Bohbot began this project in Paris, taking time to understand each library and the city that surrounds it. He approaches these spaces with a monumental, cinematic sensibility, using only natural light and color palettes reminiscent of film grading. Drawn to the quiet, cathedral-like atmosphere of libraries, he celebrates both their architecture and the passion of the librarians who sustain them. The series, which started in Paris and continued through Rome, Vienna, Venice, and Providence, will eventually expand to libraries worldwide, from ancient to contemporary. With a style that avoids the coldness of strict architectural photography, Bohbot infuses each image with character and a subtle melancholy, reflecting the uncertain future of these timeless institutions.
