In his ongoing exploration of cinematic and theatrical spaces around the world, French photographer Franck Bohbot turns his lens to one of Paris's most iconic landmarks: the Grand Rex. Photographed in 2026, this series continues his meditative inquiry into the architecture of collective dream, those vast, hushed interiors built to gather strangers in the dark and transport them elsewhere. What Bohbot captures here is not spectacle, but stillness. The Grand Rex reveals itself in the absence of its audience: the monumental grande salle with its Baroque ornamentation and star-filled ceiling, the opulent red velvet of a thousand empty seats, and the newer screening rooms, one draped in warm terracotta tones with arched ribbing that evokes the fuselage of a luxury liner, another intimate and cool, lined floor to ceiling in deep forest green. Each space carries its own personality, its own silence.
